PSALMS

The Psalms were written by David and others, many Psalms were sung even up through the New Testament..." singing with grace in your hearts, psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs"

Psalm 1..."Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.But his delight is in the law of the Lord;and in His law doth he meditate day and night.And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

Psalm 11..."In the Lord put I my trust"

Psalm 14..."The fool hath said in his heart, 'there is no God'"

Psalm 23 ..." The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want, He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters, He restoreth my soul, He leadeth me in paths of righteousness for his names sake. Yea thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me: thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever"

Psalm 25 ..."Unto thee,O Lord do I lift up my soul."

Psalm 37 ..."Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity."

Psalm 40..."I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry"

Psalm 41...Blessed is he that considereth the poor; the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble."

PROVERBS

.

The book of Proverbs was written by Solomon and others. ( see Proverbs 1:1, and 10:1 )

Two women were arguing over a baby. Solomon said, "cut the infant in two and each may have the child." The real mother said "no let her have the child", the other said "yes, cut the child in two", thus Solomon knew the real mother by her love. ( see I Kings 3:16-28 )

It teaches them to trust God..."Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths"(Proverbs3:5,6)

increase in wisdom..."Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom, with all thy getting get understanding"(Proverbs 4:7)

to be diligent at work..."He that gathereth in the summer is a wise son, but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame. (Proverbs 10:5 )

and advises them to avoid envy..."A sound heart is the life of the flesh, but envy the rottenness of the bones"(Proverbs 14:30)

gossip..."A froward man soweth strife; and a whisperer separateth chief friends"(Proverbs 16:28)

..............."A tale bearer revealeth secrets; but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter"(Proverbs 11:13)

adultery..."For the lips of a strange woman drop as a honeycomb,and her mouth is smoother than oil:But her end is as bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two edged sword..."(Proverbs 5:3,4)

violence..."Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. ..For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day."(Proverbs 4:14-18)

They are taught to seek refuge in God..."The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." (Proverbs 18:10)

The last chapter of Proverbs describes the virtuous woman..."Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies..."(Proverbs 31:10-31)

Solomon, during his reign, built and dedicated the Temple at Jerusalem...

"...behold the heaven, and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have built?" ( I Kings 8:27 )

PSALMS AND PROVERBS INSIGHT: Psalms and Proverbs communicate holy mens experience in walking with God. So many troubles can be avoided if we obey the advice of God's Word first. We will have peace and prosperity in relying on God and walking in His righteous precepts that are taught in Psalms and Proverbs. This is "wisdom".
